World’s Best Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix
When the temperatures dip south of 40 degrees Fahrenheit, who doesn’t love to snuggle up to the fire, throw a blanket over your feet, and sip a nice cup of hot cocoa? Today, we see a variety of expensive cocoa mixes on the shelves of our local mega marts and I am confident they can deliver a fine cup of cocoa, but at a price. Some of those boxes can top $25 or more!! That’s a dog that just ain’t going to hunt when you can find your supplies at a store like Kitchen Kneads and make your own world class cup of hot cocoa. That way you can relax just a little more, just a little longer in front of the fire with your warm socks on.
- 3 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon table salt
- 2 1/4 cups cocoa powder
- Whole milk for serving
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
- When you are ready to serve, pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug and microwave on high just until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix, and stir to dissolve.
- For a larger batch of cocoa, warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.
